A 4 game series and arguably the best in the NHL. People will be watching more closly to crosby, malkin and the pens now. Do they have what it takes to get to the cup? We will find out soon enough. Crosby, 19, recently completed his second season with the Penguins, having led the team to 47 wins, 105 points and its first playoff berth since 2001. He won the Art Ross Trophy as NHL scoring champion and is a finalist for the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s Most Valuable Player and the Lester B. Pearson Award as Most Outstanding Player. AHL ANNOUNCES ALIGNMENT, SCHEDULE FORMAT
There are no changes to the Eastern Conference alignment for the upcoming season. The Penguins will once again play in the East Division, which also includes Albany, Binghamton, Bridgeport, Hershey, Norfolk and Philadelphia. Additionally, the league has also announced its schedule format for the 2007-2008 season, which sees all 29 teams play an 80-game schedule (40 home/40 away). The majority of the Penguins games will once again come from within the East Division, with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton taking on Hershey, Norfolk and Philadelphia a total of 10 times apiece (5 home/5 road), and the Pens facing Albany, Binghamton and Bridgeport 8 times apiece (4 home/4 road). TIM WALLACE SIGNED TO TWO-YEAR NHL DEAL
Wallace, 22, split the past season between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) and Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). The Anchorage, Alaska native recorded 14 points (5+9) in 32 games with the Penguins and 17 points (6+11) in 19 games with the Nailers. Wallace also appeared in 11 postseason games with the Penguins, recording two points (1+1) and two penalty minutes. Originally signed by the AHL Penguins as a free agent on October 6, 2006, Wallace played four seasons with the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish, recording 59 points (25+34) in 153 career games. Penguins signed undrafted free-agent defenceman Jonathan D'Aversa
The 21-year-old spent the last four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sudbury Wolves. D'Aversa led all OHL defencemen in scoring this past season with 60 points.
